Since I believe so much in having a purpose for whatever you do, I want you to know the purpose that motivated me to create this website: to encourage you to make changes in your life that will increase your vitality and productivity in your service to God and others.
These blogs are intended to help you make conscious decisions regarding your health, nutrition and daily habits and to persistently follow through on them. Time is going to pass whether you use it well or whether you use it poorly - why not use at least some of it well? If you and I can hold on to a vision of what our lives could be like if we made just small alterations to our daily routines, we would gladly make those changes and stick with them. My goal is to motivate you (and me) daily to help you do those things you KNOW will make a difference – not just for your physical health, but for your social, intellectual and spiritual health as well.
Personal change is hard work. If you’re looking for quick fixes, you’ll need to look elsewhere. Everything I recommend takes time. I read once that change occurs more quickly than you thought possible when you look back on it, but more slowly than you dream. That’s so true. For example, we start a diet . . . we develop a plan including weekly weigh-ins and meetings. We’ve cleaned out our pantry and refrigerator and stocked them with healthy food. Great! We have an image in our minds of what we’re going to look like when we lose the weight we want to lose, and we know in our minds that it’s going to take time. If we stayed with the diet for two years, we’d be thrilled with the results at the end of those two years . . . and at many milestone points along the way! But because we don’t look like our mental image after a month, we decide that this is too hard for us, or diets don’t work for us, or we’re just not disciplined, etc., and we give up.
This site is intended to help you develop faith and persistence, to keep going when you’re discouraged, and to tackle the deep problems you’ve not yet been able to solve. You can change almost anything about yourself in three short years. Three years are going to pass anyway - do you want to look back and be amazed and happy at how much you’ve changed, or do you want to be dealing with the same problems you’re battling today, only time has made them worse! You’ll learn practical ideas to make important changes in your life, both big and small, so you can get your life on track and have the satisfaction of a life well spent.
